Works underway for multimillion-dollar Tully Multi-Use Sporting Complex

The $7.1 million Tully Multi-Use Sporting Complex project is taking shape, with construction having kicked off for the project’s 600-capacity grandstand.

Minister for State Development and Infrastructure Cameron Dick said it is great to see Tully’s plans to revitalise sport and recreation in the region coming to life.

“The Palaszczuk Government is proud to be supporting this project with a $3 million investment through our successful $365 million Building our Regions program,” Mr Dick said.

“The project will see a multi-use sporting complex, complete with covered grandstand, canteen, function room and rest-room facilities, built at Tully Showgrounds.

“The anticipation from the community is palpable, and these works will prove a great injection for the local economy, supporting 23 jobs during the construction phase.

“We’re committed to working in partnership with councils to deliver the job-creating infrastructure Queensland’s regional communities need.”

Cassowary Coast Regional Council Mayor John Kremastos said the project would create long-lasting benefits for the region.

“Once complete, we anticipate the new complex will attract visitors to attend major regional sporting carnivals and year-round events in Tully,” Mr Kremastos said.

“We are excited about creating a new attraction for our region.”

Over the first four BoR funding rounds, Cassowary Coast Regional Council has received $8.98 million for four infrastructure projects, supporting an estimated 63 local construction jobs.

Projects funded through Round 5 of the program will be announced in 2020.
