Crows Nest crews receive new firefighting appliance and equipment worth $540,000

Fire and Emergency Services Craig Crawford today handed over a new appliance fitted with state-of-the-art equipment in a $540,000 boost to the Crows Nest Fire and Rescue Station, near Toowoomba.

On the Darling Downs for the Palaszczuk Government’s Governing from the Regions program, Mr Crawford said the Type 2 Urban Pumper firefighting appliance “will be a great asset for hard-working crews”.

“It has been equipped with the latest Road Crash Rescue and Recovery Equipment and is fitted with enhanced energy efficient emergency lighting, mast lighting, thermal imaging camera and a gas detection unit,” Mr Crawford said.

“The new appliance and equipment will certainly benefit crews responding to emergencies including road crash rescues, as well as bushfires and structural fires.

“This firefighting vehicle will be a great asset when attending to the needs of the community when disasters strike, while increasing the safety for our firefighters."

The Crows Nest Fire and Rescue Station services an area from Hampton to Ravensbourne and surrounding districts. The station responded to 51 incidents last financial year, and crew have already responded to 12 incidents since July this year.

Mr Crawford said the replacement Urban Pumper Tanker appliance was funded through the State Capital Works Program within Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES).

“The Palaszczuk Government is committed to ensuring QFES has the personnel, infrastructure and equipment to meet future demand in regional centres, and this new Isuzu FTR 150-260 Premium chassis appliance will be a valuable addition to the South Western Region’s fleet,” he said.
