$20,000 Back to Work payments in store for Ipswich employers

Ipswich employers who hire a jobseeker could be in line for support payments of up to $20,000 under the Palaszczuk Government’s expanded Back to Work jobs program.

Visiting Ipswich today with the Member for Ipswich Jennifer Howard, Employment Minister Grace Grace urged local employers to get on board with the popular program which has already proven a hit in regional Queensland.

“Employers in regional Queensland have already hired more than 4,800 jobseekers under our Back to Work program, and we think it can also be a huge success in the South East,” Ms Grace said.

“The Back to Work SEQ program kicks off on July 1 and it’s backed by $27.5 million in new funding.

“This will support up to 1,500 new jobs and it’s available to employers in the South East who take on a long-term unemployed or a young unemployed jobseeker aged 15-24 years. “So if you’re an Ipswich employer who is thinking of hiring, why not get paid up to $20,000 to do it?” Member for Ipswich Jennifer Howard said:

“Ipswich employers now have 20,000 great extra reasons to hire a jobseeker,” she said.

“If you’re eligible under this program and you hire a long-term unemployed or young jobseeker aged 15-24, you can add at least $15,000 and in some cases up to $20,000 to your business’s bottom line.

“That’s a fantastic incentive to hire and I want to encourage eligible employers in the Ipswich region to take advantage of this great program.”
