GOLD COAST PROGRAM FOR Q150 SHED AVAILABLE NOW

Blues and Roots ARIA award winners The Audreys are special guests headlining the Q150 Shed’s visit to the Gold Coast at Evandale Park, Bundall from 10-12 December, Premier Anna Bligh said today.

The Q150 Shed kicked off its second tour in Caboolture on 30 October, before travelling to Blackall, Augathella, Cherbourg, Warwick, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

“We want as many Queenslanders as possible to help celebrate Queensland’s 150th birthday and the Q150 Shed is one way we to take celebrations right around the State,” Ms Bligh said.

“It’s Queensland’s newest touring entertainment venue based on the iconic Australian shearing shed, giving people the opportunity to enjoy entertainment on their doorstep.

“Special guests The Audreys, will headline the Shed’s final show on Saturday night, 12 December, so come and experience firsthand the great sound that won them the ARIA award for Blues and Roots music in 2006 and 2008.

“A host of other artists will also appear including singer-songwriters Ryan Murphy and Timothy Carroll, pop quartet Autumn Sun, organic roots band The Twine, high energy gypsy band Lola Lovina, and the Hope Island Harmonists.

“There’s also free dance workshops at 3.30pm each day with urban dance company Raw Dance; Bank of Queensland will host its ‘Funny’ Money workshops for kids, and you can take time to visit the ‘where we from’ banner exhibition, a visual display depicting the Indigenous relationships between land, identity and culture.

“The Q150 Shed is a great treat, and I encourage people to visit it, grab a bite to eat and enjoy some fantastic entertainment.”

Bank of Queensland Managing Director David Liddy said the celebrations in the Q150 Shed were proving very popular.

“It’s a very special year for all Queenslanders with Q150 reflecting the fascinating and powerful growth story that is Queensland’s history,” he said.

“There’s been a lot of positive change during that time and for this I think we all should be justifiably proud.

“The Bank’s involvement with Queensland’s 150th celebrations is in keeping with our commitment to support the communities in which we operate.

“During our 135-year history, we have grown hand-in-hand with the Queensland community, and our unique owner-managed branch model saw us achieve a national presence in 2007, with branches now in every Australian State and Territory.
