Multi-award winning songbird Katy Steele and Blues and Roots ARIA award winners The Audreys are the special guests headlining the Q150 Shed’s stint at Musgrave Park in South Brisbane from 2-4 December, Premier Anna Bligh said today.
The Q150 Shed kicked off its second tour in Caboolture on 30 October, before travelling to Blackall, Augathella, Cherbourg, Warwick, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
“We want as many Queenslanders as possible to join Queensland’s 150th birthday celebrations and the Q150 Shed is one way we are taking the celebrations right around the State,” she said.
“It’s Queensland’s newest touring entertainment venue based on the typical Australian shearing shed, giving people the opportunity to enjoy fantastic entertainment on their doorstep.
“At the Q150 Shed in Brisbane, Katy Steele (of Little Birdy fame) will step out with her guitar and treat everyone to her fantastic voice or you can hear firsthand the great sound that won The Audreys the Blues and Roots ARIA awards in 2006 and 2008.
“Later each night the floor will rock to the beat of different Queensland bands including Starscream 13, Tin Can Radio and Skinny Jean.
“On Thursday morning local soprano group the 10divas will perform and Paisley Lane will take you on a sentimental journey to the days of cabaret glamour.
“There are also free dance workshops at 3.30pm each day with urban dance company Raw Dance; the Bank of Queensland will be host its ‘Funny’ Money workshops for kids, and people can take time to visit the ‘where we from’ banners exhibition which is a visual display depicting the Indigenous relationships between land, identity and culture.
“The Q150 Shed is a great treat, and I encourage people to visit it, grab a bite to eat and enjoy some fantastic entertainment.”
Bank of Queensland Managing Director David Liddy said the celebrations in the Q150 Shed were proving very popular.
“It’s a very special year for all Queenslanders with Q150 reflecting the fascinating and powerful growth story that is Queensland’s history,” he said.
“There’s been a lot of positive change during that time and for this I think we all should be justifiably proud.
“The Bank’s involvement with Queensland’s 150th celebrations is in keeping with our commitment to support the communities in which we operate.
“During our 135-year history, we have grown hand-in-hand with the Queensland community, and our unique owner-managed branch model saw us achieve a national presence in 2007, with branches now in every Australian State and Territory.
