Expert advice at Export Showcase

Queensland businesses will have a unique opportunity to talk to experts covering markets across the globe at an export showcase in Brisbane.

Minister for Trade Stephen Robertson said that the Export Showcase, an annual event, will be held on 20 October during Export Week at the Sofitel Brisbane to assist and encourage Queensland’s current and potential exporters.

“It is a free, one-stop trade show for all your export needs and an opportunity to ask all the hard questions about accessing or expanding your company’s export markets,” Mr Robertson said.

“Showcase visitors will be able to meet with Queensland’s Trade Commissioners and Special Representatives and receive first-hand advice on Latin America, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, China, South-East Asia, India, Korea, and the Middle East.

“In addition, export industry representatives from Austrade, Export Finance and Insurance Corporation, Port of Brisbane, Australian Industry Group, Redland City Council, Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce, Australian Institute of Export, HSBC, and other government departments will exhibit at the showcase and will be available for clients to seek expert advice.

“Visitors will also be able to hear the latest on the international education and training market, and on Trade Queensland’s International Business Cadet program.

“The Export Showcase has the answers to the who, what, when, where, why and how of Queensland’s exporting industries.

“The value of Queensland’s overseas merchandise goods exports for the recently-ended 2008-09 financial year was a record $56.3 billion, activities held during Export Week are important so that we can maintain and grow this global trading.

“Export Showcase presents an opportunity to hear about upcoming events and opportunities that exporters can be involved in to help break into overseas markets. It demonstrates Trade Queensland’s commitment to, and capabilities in enhancing, export opportunities and assisting businesses to expand their global markets,” Mr Robertson said.

Trade Queensland’s 2009 Export Week will see more than 28 separate events held around the State from 19 to 23 October to recognise, assist and promote Queensland’s export capabilities, businesses, industries and successes.
