The Queensland Government's Community Renewal program for the Beenleigh area has been officially launched by the Minister for Employment, Training and Industrial Relations and Member for Waterford, Tom Barton.Mr Barton said that over the next five years Community Renewal would bring together residents, government and businesses to help create a stronger community.
"From community centres, skate parks and walking trails to improved health services and employment opportunities, the Department of Housing's Community Renewal program will work with residents and government to deliver projects of lasting benefit to the community," Mr Barton said.
Minister for Tourism, Fair Trading and Wine Industry Development and Member for Albert, Margaret Keech, said she had seen first-hand the benefits of Community Renewal in Eagleby. "These have included a stronger community image, a reduction in crime, increased employment opportunities and improved services and facilities," she said
Minister for Public Works, Housing and Racing Robert Schwarten said Community Renewal would help streamline the way Government worked to make life better in the Gold Coast North.
"Community Renewal gives immediate support to communities, but the partnerships between governments and communities and the ideas implemented can last a lot longer," Mr Schwarten said.

Community Renewal is a Queensland Government initiative coordinated by the Department of Housing in conjunction with local residents, government and business to develop communities where people feel valued, safe and proud.
